which electric pet containment fence works best?
None.
You need to put in a lot of training time and the dog does receive a shock. If it's not done properly, the dog can misinterpret the shock and develop behavior problems. Some dogs will run right through the wire so fast that they don't get shocked until they are long gone. Then they can't come home again.
There's nothing to prevent other dogs from coming onto your property and attacking yours.
There's nothing to prevent a child from coming onto your property and being injured by the dog (even if he just knocks the child down saying "hi"!) You may be liable, because the law says you have provided an "attractive nuisance".
There's nothing to prevent someone from stealing your dog to use as pit-bull bait or for lab experiments.
Personally, I prefer a real, solid fence.
The Dogtek EF-4000 dog fence is a new containment system, brought to the United States from France where it is the number one selling dog fence system. The system is a full featured system for the price of a mid-level system, but does have a few kinks with it's accessories.
Imported from France, the Dogtek is a rebadged Num'Axes system brought to our shores by Dogtek a new company based in Florida. Dogtek will be offering the full range of Num'Axes systems that include training collars, bark collars, and the EF-4000 dog fence.
Starting with the collar, the EF-4000 is a waterproof mid-sized collar that has eight correction levels. The collar opens up by unscrewing four screws on the collar to reveal a battery compartment and a button for changing the correction level. The collar has. The collar generously includes both long and short prongs for the collar -- something that is becoming less common even on the high-end systems.
The Dogtek base station is one of the smallest units. It is set apart from regular dog fences in that you can set the warning zone separately from the correction. This allows you to give your dog lots of warning before they get their correction of just a few inches if space is tighter.
one area where the EF-4000 is not so generous is the boundary wire kits that is included with the system. The system only includes 300 feet of boundary wire, and 10 boundary flags which is enough for only a very small back yard.
The Dogtek is a good system, and is excellent value for money. But, the deal is not quite as good as it seems, since the system comes with about half as much wire as in other systems, you will need to add a couple of dollars to the price to rectify this deficiency. Still a very good deal and make the Dogtek EF-4000 worth checking out.
