About 5 years ago I installed a petsafe (guardian) pet fence system, up until now it has worked fine, well?
the loop light has recently gone out so I bought the break locator for $50 and the tone that it is supposed to put out over the radio never changed so I unhooked it plugged my fence transmitter back in and it works, that was Saturday, today (Tuesday) the loop light is off again and I am stumped.....any ideas.

Part of the problem is that it is a Petsafe system. An old one at that. In my experience very few of them last much more than half that time.
Sounds as if you have a break in the loop wire, either from physical damage (has it been run over by a car recently?) or corrosion through a nick in the insulation. A hairline break can come and go (you don't say where you are located but temperature changes for example expand and contract the wire and the weather is warming up and cooling down around here daily) and not be detectable. If you have an ohms meter disconnect the wire from the box and check for continuity the next time the light comes on. If you have continuity then the box could be faulty.
I have had the "invisible" type of fence for over 10 years now.
Huskies are escape artists. We have 14 of them. The only thing that I have found that they can't go over or under is invisible type fencing. Some folks say that it doesn't work on Huskies. They don't know what they are talking about. You can't buy the cheap stuff, like what they sell at Lowe's or Home Depot or PetSmart etc. The best I have found is the Smart Dog 2100 by Innotek. You can find it on line at several sites, discounted for less than $170.00 with 1 collar. Extra collars are about $80.00. The kit has everything needed including 500' of wire and flags, enough to do a quarter acre. Expansion kits (500' of wire and flags) are available for $38.00 and will contain a bit more than an acre. The collars are rechargeable (unlike the "Invisible Fence" and most others where you have to buy the proprietary (one place to get it = expensive) batteries every 3 or so months), has battery backup for the transmitter, run through prevention, waterproof, etc. if you are in an area that has a lot of thunderstorms I would consider a lighting protection module ($50.00). Innotek now owns Invisible Fence brand. Be sure to use heat shrink type splices in the wire if needed. They are available at marine supply stores. Do not use the "weatherproof wire nuts" from Lowe's etc. They will not work for this application. Use an edger to dig the "trench" for the wire. The wire only has to be buried 1 or 2 inches down. The yard will “heal” within a few days normally.

You do not have to sacrifice the interior design of your house to keep the safety of your pet and your house companions. In traveling, safety is the at most priority not just for the travelers inside the vehicle but also the safety of you pets. Pet containment is a most obvious and easiest method for carrier for small dogs and other animals especially when you are traveling by car. Larger dog especially requires bigger containment. Keeping your pet well contained help insure that the animal doesn’t jump or get into trouble.
There are also outdoor pet containments that you can use for your pet such as, underground or invisible fence and dog house. Underground and invisible fence are easy to install and less expensive when it comes to maintenance compared to the traditional fence. This device has a transmitter that is placed on the collar of your dog and emits an electric stimulation when the dog or pet nears the place where they are restricted. Dog houses provide your dog with a quiet, private place to relax while sheltering him from the sun, rain, wind, and extreme temperatures.
There are many ways to contain your pet and keep them safe and secure. Containment also helps prevent outside distractions that can harm your pet to others. Make sure to find the right containment system that is suitable for them.
